Sustainability Grants

Melinda Gray Ardia Environmental Foundation 
Provides grants to support educators in developing environmental curricula that integrate field activities and classroom teaching, and that incorporate basic ecological principles and problem solving. Award: $1,500. Submit a 1-page pre-proposal before September 14.

Forest History Society. Alfred D. Bell Travel Grants
Through programs in research, publication, and education, the society promotes and rewards scholarship in the fields of forest, conservation, and environmental history while reminding people of the importance of the forest heritage. Preference is given to young scholars whose work supports the Society's mission of linking the past to the future by identifying,collecting, preserving, interpreting, and disseminating information on the history of interactions between people, forests, and their related resources: timber, water, soil, forage, fish and wildlife, recreation, and scenic or spiritual values. Award: $950.

Earth Island Institute.   Brower Youth Awards
These awards honor six young people in North America annually for their outstanding activism and achievements in the fields of environmental and environmental justice advocacy. The winners of the award receive a cash prize, a trip to California for the award ceremony and wilderness camping trip, and ongoing access to resources and opportunities to further their work at Earth Island Institute. Young activist leaders ages 13-22 living in North America are eligible to apply. Award: $3,000.  Deadline: May 15. 

Youth Venture. Environmental Grants, Scholarships, Contests
A national movement of young people who are proving that their dreams, creativity, and abilities make a positive difference to communities across the nation. The Youth Venture Grant Program provides grants to young people (ages 12 to 20) who have a dream or identify a need in their school or community, develop an idea and then, with a team, launch their own community-minded organizations to address that dream or need. Each venture team must have an Ally - a caring adult who advises the team. Grants of up to $1,000 are provided to help launch the organization. Applications are accepted throughout the year. 

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Annual P3 Award
A National Student Design Competition for Sustainability Focusing on People, Prosperity, and the Planet. The competition will provide grants to teams of college students to research, develop, and design solutions to challenges to sustainability. The EPA will award approximately 35 grants of up to $15,000 for Phase I. Upon the successful completion of Phase I, Phase I grant recipients will have the opportunity to apply for Phase II funding of up to $75,000 for one additional year. The EPA will award approximately 10 Phase II grants.  Notice of Intent Deadline: November 2016.
