Propose an exhibit
Designated Library space and exhibit/display cases are available to students, faculty and staff. The FIT Library encourages members of the college community to take advantage of these facilities to publicize noteworthy campus endeavors and provide visual, intellectual and/or cultural content for community enrichment. Library exhibits and displays are intended to highlight research, special programs, curricula, and FIT campus life. Although displays may reflect a variety of viewpoints and/or cultural diversity, these viewpoints belong to the exhibitor and do not necessarily represent the opinions of the Library or FIT; however, exhibits should be consistent with the Colleges educational philosophy and ideals and be fair and equitable when dealing with potentially controversial issues. The installation, maintenance, and de-installation of an exhibition are entirely the responsibility of the curator/exhibitor.
Proposals will be considered in the order in which they are received. Submit a proposal using our online form.
Proposals should be submitted as early as possible, but no less than 90 days in advance of the proposed setup date of the exhibit. Proposals should include the purpose of the exhibition, preferred dates for the exhibition and the exhibitors contact information. In addition, all proposals must be accompanied by an exhibit design plan (case schematics templates are included here to assist you in planning your design). All proposals must be submitted to the Library Exhibits Coordinator to be reviewed in concert with the Library Director.
Notification of proposal acceptance will be emailed within three weeks of initial submission. Upon receipt of notification you will be required to return the completed Display Reservation and Agreement form.
One month prior to scheduled set up date, you will receive from the Library a reminder
of your commitment, confirming the dates and other specifics of your project. At
that time, you will be asked to review and reconfirm the plan with the Exhibits Coordinator
to ensure there are no changes; if changes are necessary, they should be added to
the proposal at this time and resubmitted for final approval.

The library maintains a limited supply of materials, such as pins, tape, and book stands, for mounting exhibits and displays. Any additional materials must be provided by the exhibitor.
Exhibit/Display Setup & Construction:
Setup should begin no more than five days prior to the scheduled opening.
If you intend to use wall space, you will be required to use wire or filament and hang items from the existing picture rails. Any item that is to be hung must have D rings attached prior to setup.
Under no circumstances may any materials be affixed directly to Library walls.
If you intend to use the Library vitrines, please keep in mind that only pins can be used to mount items to the back panels; this includes captions and labels.
Security of Exhibits:
Exhibit cases are lockable, but are located in public areas with limited monitoring. The FIT Library does not carry insurance against damage, vandalism or theft of exhibit contents and cannot be held responsible for the safety or loss of exhibited items. Exhibitors concerned about possible damage or loss are encouraged to seek other venues.
Removal of Exhibits:
Exhibitors are responsible for removing displays promptly after the close of the exhibit. Exhibits that are not broken down within 24 hours of the closing will be removed by the Library Exhibits staff. The Library is not responsible for any damage sustained during this process. Additionally, unclaimed exhibit materials will be disposed of after two weeks.
Exhibitors who do not comply with the above protocols will not be considered for future exhibits.
